Bangkok '11 Day 2 and 3

Taking a break from slothing at home, and also because my body is slowly adjusting from the awesome-ness which is Sports Camp which I can't wait to blog about but I have to clear my back logs first :( :(

So anyway the highlight of the entire trip was on the first 2 days because of all the crazy shopping we did. The rest of the days just saw us cruising around out of Bangkok/Suburbs because shopping got abit too overwhelming.

Once again, can I say that the lobby has the best lighting!! Anyways I got sick of the hotel food because we basically got fed the same exact thing for 6 days. I mean, I love eggs and apple juice but feed me that consecutively I will puke in your face.

My first time on the tuk-tuk. I didn't really like it because of all the haggling and persuading us to go to stupid museums and whatever. Bah, I just wna do my shopping.

Outside MBK waiting for the gates to be open. There was already a line by the time we got there. I don't really see the hype about the place because there was nothing much for me to buy there (grumbles)

Thai crepes that I fell in love with! Basically its a crispy biscuit pancake with salty coconut flakes and some awesome mega fattening whip cream, topped with fruits. I LOVED IT!!!

Then we headed off to some atas shopping mall. Their Isetan is AMAZING. So unlike the aunty fashion in our local departmental stores. I think I can actually live there and never come back. But the prices are awesomely expensive:(

My first time trying Krispy Kreme!

Stacks and stacks of fried doughy goodness!

How cute is that?!! And the fondant was surprisingly good too, because I don't usually like fondant.

DAY 3

Oh hai crepes, how I have missed you!

We ended up buying a dozen because it was just too good and cheap to resist.

 How can you resist this??

Cutsey bunnies we saw at Chatuchak!

Cutesy bunnies part 2. Look at those ears!!! ( SQUISH)

For lunch we had the best Phad Thai ever. Apparently it was highly recommended in one of those travel forums that my Dad was researching from. It's not a touristy place so we had a bit of trouble placing our orders because the menu was in Thai and the store people couldn't really speak English. BUT OMFG TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT AND THE LONG BLISTERING WALK THERE

Ah pek frying up our lunch

Our lunch is in your hands old man...

Hi can you say heavenly? Its abit different from our usual Phad Thai because this one came with the kuaytiao wrapped up in an omelette. I love eggs!

Look at the amount of seafood they gave us! I am craving for this now:(

Another one to make you drool!

We also ordered Mango Sticky Rice from an old famous stall nearby which is apparently also damn famous. Look at the amount of mango they gave us! I think its one entire mango.

NOMS

Boob-looking mangoes from outside the stall!

We also tried the tri-coloured mango sticky rice. I love the green one, I'm guessing its pandan-flavoured rice. So sweet and fragrant. Where to find in SG you tell me?

For dessert we went all the way to Chinatown to try the famous Bird's Nest. It totally poured all the way there and I was freezing inside the restaurant because they were happily blasting the air con away. One thing in Thailand that I noted is that they love blasting their aircon. Electricity must be really cheap.

For dinner we met up with my Dad's childhood friend who's stationed as an executive chef in Thailand. We dropped by at his condo which was so luxurious! Like a hotel!!! I also happened to accidentally step on his Gucci slippers ><

He brought us to his favourite roast pork eatery-thingy which was an hour's ride from Bkk. It was so worth the long journey because the food was heavenly! I shall now torture you with pictures.

Them roasting our dinner!

We stare on in amazement. Because food made this way can't taste THAT good right?? WRONG

Dad and Uncle who's Gucci slippers I stepped on.

Oysters for starters!

The Thai way of eating oysters. Squeeze lemon, and spam with garlic, shallots and spring onion. After delivering goodness into mouth, we were supposed to bite into this sprig of plant. Apparently eating that plant alone, its super duper bitter and dry. But eating it after the oyster, it becomes sweet! LIKE MAGIC!!!

Our roast pork. Oh how much I've missed you

Look at how amazingly thin it is! Like eating chips! And it has none of those fatty white stuff underneathe the skin. Mark of a great chef!!!! The coconut sugar sauce that came with it, fireworks in ma mouth!

Okay abrupt end to post because I'm getting bored. Nuff about Bkk around lol
